I love meeting business needs with technology! It becomes a puzzle of how to best make use of the resources and skills available while keeping within the constraints. I believe planning and keeping the main goals in mind while being conscious of security and best practices lead to success with testing and continuous feedback imperative at every step of the process.
I keep up-to-date with what is happening in the industry with trends and emerging technologies providing insight into how others are solving problems. I've attended all of the online Laracon's as well as three Laracon AU conferences. I enjoyed meeting the team behind Laravel and listening to talks from the community. I make time for learning new skills and approaches as I believe there are always ways to improve and find better methods to achieve goals.
Of course, my other main obsession is coffee and I'm always striving for a better cup, whether from sourcing the best beans, learning new tips from James Hoffman (the coffee guru), or trying out every coffee shop I can (Shoutout to my amazing local Death Before Decaf!)
I am currently learning Italian in preparation for a trip to Italy. In my spare time, I can be found hiking up the various mountains around Queensland, trying out a new coffee shop or hanging out with family.
I currently work as a Network Development Engineer, primarily utilising Python, FastAPI, and MongoDB. Leveraging FastAPI for rapid development and MongoDB for flexible data management, I focus on delivering robust solutions that meet business needs. Previously, I worked extensively with PHP, with Laravel being my framework of choice. Laravel's ability to facilitate clean and expressive code allowed me to effectively address business requirements. My diverse skill set across both backend development and network engineering enables me to adapt to various project needs and deliver high-quality results.
I understand the importance of a good user experience (UX) and place extra focus on creating intuitive, well-thought-out layouts. I have extensive experience using JavaScript with Vue 2 and 3, and I have worked with various supporting technologies such as PrimeVue, Tailwind CSS, and Vite. This expertise allows me to build responsive and visually appealing interfaces that enhance user engagement.
I have experience managing websites hosted on Linux VPS (virtual private servers) and have developed skills in server monitoring, penetration testing, and server hardening. My work with AWS (Amazon Web Services) has given me a deep appreciation for the importance of security and the benefits of performance and scalability. This experience led me to complete the AWS Associate Developer certificate. I have also enhanced my understanding of networking protocols and infrastructure, allowing me to integrate network and application development seamlessly.
